Lets Explore Leet(733t)! Language is a big part of Geeks everyday life. And somewhere in the pits of hell 733t was born and is part of our computer community as part of a Culture or Sub-Culture, Or to be that annoying part of life. I wonder at times who came up with these languages. That and what were they smoking when they came up with it. Could you see it.


Meet Bob and George. Sitting there Soda in hand playing the latest in Video games brought to them by Commador 64. Talking about Girls they don't have when the conversation changes...Drasticly for the worst...

Bob: Dude this game is soo cool I mean look at it this is way better then Pong!

George: Yeah I could play this for days.

Bob: Dude your a Geek. who would sit and play games on this for days I have an Apple 2e over there we could Hack something.

George: Dude you are Right. Lets hack something.

Bob: OK but we need Names First. You need a name to play on those boards they have on Prodigy.

George: Really, What do they call you there.

Bob: bob01

George: well that is creative isn't it. Why the 01?

Bob: Bob was taken, what else could I do.

(Geeks make there way to apple 2e)

Bob: so what should we call you?

George: W4rl0rdrul3r works for me.

Bob: Dude what are you doing you can't do that. what is that anyway.

George: well I figured everyone is going to already have all the letters why not use numbers. A is a 4, O is a 0, e is a 3. you know Stir it up.

Bob: Cool then I could be B0B!

And a Language is born. Scary isn't it. It hurts me to write it. I learned it at work of all places. I had been in Chat rooms for a while and some of the Basic language of the Internet I knew. Like the little symbol that no one understood at schoot is the at sign. For years unused and ignored now it is one of the most well know symbols in the english language. Most people Use it now with out thinking about it.


I Have seen messages "@ marty's meet me there." Is this a sentence does it take less time to write I don't know. I know I have seen me do it. But back to this Chat. There I was a little person with big Brass balls. In a work chat I signed in as Quack. Which when I was told I had to have part of my name in it and my title I said OK MAqAC or maQUac as AC are part of my name. there was the Wh33lch4irm4n and a few others. But we got away with it and I was always Quack. Don't ask why.


But 733t as a language was all over that Chat. I had the hardest time and no teachers to help me Figure it out. AND forget it if I needed to talk to the Tech Chat. Cause they spoke no other language. It took me weeks to decypher all of it. |v| killed me forever. So I finally got most of it Down a while ago. though why instead of saying Hacker they have to have |-|4xx0r or H4xx0r I don't know.


There is one Great thing about 733t. Spelling. there is none. And for some of us out there 733t is a reason to kill. Imagine if you will the other side of the computer there is Sally. It has been a while since she has seen B0B and W4rl0rdrul3r. She is thankful. Prodigy is now *Cough, Hack* AOL. She enters a Chat room. Gamers non-733t. She changed her name, as we all do online, to SandraD.

SandraD: Hey all have you seen the new UO game?

[Sally looks at the screen. *sigh* "can't he read? What a nitwit"]

SandraD: Can you say that in English this is a Non-leet room

W4rl0rdrul3r: 733t rul3s 1t 1s 477 1 sp33k d34l.

SandraD: Whatever

Dandylion: Yeah that game rocks.

SandraD: thanks.

SandraD: Normal people {{{Hug}}}

It happens, I think somewhere there is a place for 733t mostly on pagers and cellphones but most who use it should be mentally Cracked. well if you are using it the way W4rl0rdrul3r was.


I still prefer the written word to 733t anytime. 733t scares me. The people I have met that used it talked about all this stuff they did on there computers and what they have hacked/cracked/stolen/or Downloaded.
